One 'HELL' of a Halloween Party at Bistro L!VE

The Halloween Theme Parties at Bistro L!VE Leicester, Nottingham and Milton Keynes were one of the scariest to date with hundreds of ghoulish guests tucking into a specially themed menu including Creamy Mushroom and Toadstool Provençale, Skewered Salmon and Treacle Toffee Pudding. Even the cocktails had a evil twist with customers quaffing jugs of Beetle Juice and Witches Brew.

Revellers were encouraged to fancy dress for our theme night and you didn't let us down with hoards of monsters, witches and goblins descending on Bistro L!VE for a night of eating, drinking and spooky fun until the early hours.

The staff at Bistro L!VE Nottingham gave shoppers in the city centre an early Christmas present last week giving away festive mince pies and pigs in blankets to promote their Christmas Party Nights and Christmas Tribute Nights this year. Dressed in variety of costumes from our ABBA Tribute Night, Take That Tribute Night and Bee Gees Tribute Night to reflect their favourite Bistro L!VE Tribute Band the Bistro L!VE staff tantalized the taste buds of the Nottingham general public with Christmas nibbles specially made by Bistro L!VEs head chef, John Boothroyd. He thought that there was no better way to market Bistro L!VEs Christmas Entertainment but also it was a great for him to get some early practice in for his Bistro L!VEs Christmas Menu for what will be the busiest Christmas period yet. The Nottingham shoppers certainly appreciated all his hard work with the Bistro L!VE staff coming back empty handed!!!!!!!!

Navi - Worlds Number 1 Michael Jackson Tribute, Rocks Bistro L!VE Leicester & Nottingham!

Last night saw Navi, the worlds number 1 Michael Jackson Tribute Act, performing to a standing ovation at Bistro L!VE Nottingham & Bistro L!VE Leicester.

Bistro L!VE were hosting a special tribute night, celebrating the music of Michael Jackson. Both Bistro L!VE venues were treated to an absolutely stunning performance from Navi and his superb backing dancers.

The atmosphere was electric as the audience waited for Navi to hit the stage. Once he did, they weren't dissapointed! There was an immediate rush to the front of the stage as Navi opened up with 'Smooth Criminal'.

Not only that but the Bistro L!VE audience experienced the first ever 'dance off' held at the venues with Navi and his dancers conducting a fantastic (and sometimes hilarious!) dance competition!

Once the show had finished, Navi very kindly posed for nearly 30 minutes with the hugely satisfied customers (see below).

BISTRO LIVE MILTON KEYNES TRAVEL IN TIME

On Friday 17th July Bistro Live were whisked back to the 70’s with a fantastic Tribute Night, ABBA, with most of the 200 customers dressed in their 70’s gear it really set the atmosphere!

After a superb 3 course meal everyone could not wait for “Abba Revival” to begin. The lights were turned down in the room and turned up on stage, with the loud intro music on walked “Bjorn and Benny” in their white trousers and jackets. The stage filled with smoke and you could hear the voices of “Agnetha and Frida” singing “Waterloo” as there opening song. As the smoke cleared, there they were in their short white dresses and platform boots to kill for and the hour of fantastic songs from Abba began.

Everyone sang along with the songs and danced for the whole performance, however I have to say my highlight of the evening was seeing “Alex” – yes you know who you are! -strutting his stuff on the table dressed in his stylish Gold jacket and wearing his platforms - his performance was great!!

Then on Saturday Bistro Live went to the 90’s with the fantastic energetic band “Now 90’s”. This band really know how to get everyone up and dancing and with “Collette”, lead singer bouncing around full of energy it cannot help but rub off on everyone else.

This band are truly one of a kind and will keep you dancing all night and are back at Bistro Live Milton Keynes on Saturday 15th August.

BISTRO LIVE HELP ASHLEY HYDE

Bistro Live, Milton Keynes were very honoured to recently host a “Fundraising Evening” for Claire and Jamie for their young son, Ashley who has an extremely rare type of cancer called Neuroblastoma. I am pleased to say that at present Ashley is in remission but unfortunately this type of cancer is highly likely to return within 3-5 years, however there is some good news for Ashley as there is a treatment he can receive in America but Clair and Jamie need to raise £25,000 to get Ashley there.

Clair called Bistro Live after reading about our Fundraising Initiative as she thought this would be a great way to raise some money for Ashley by giving all her friends and family a good fun night out whilst still raising money for Ashley.

60 of their friends and family joined them at Bistro Live on Sunday 28th June for a fun filled evening, the theme; chosen by Ashley was “Hero’s and Villains”. After a wonderful 3 course meal we played fun games, had a quiz based on Hero’s and Villains and a massive raffle, where lots of the prizes were donated by local retailers, we then finished the evening with a Disco.

Bistro Live staff worked hard during the evening selling the raffle tickets and getting everyone to join in the quiz and games by asking for donations and along with a proportion of the ticket price from Bistro Live we managed to raise £412.00 to go to Ashley.

Due to the great success on the evening Clair approached me after and said “what a great night and wanted to arrange another one later in the year – where she would make sure everyone knew what a Brill Night it was” . I am confident that Bistro Live will be giving her an even larger donation after this event.

Since the evening the staff at Bistro Live has requested that we put a sign up about Ashley with a donation container for anyone to put money in as they really want to see him get the treatment he deserves. On the 16th June 2009! Bistro Live was acknowledged by the Leicestershire City Council as a Safe venue to visit in Leicester.

The aim of Best Bar None is to promote responsible management of licensed premises and in doing so, recognise good practice. Bistro Live first entered this scheme in 2007 and every year since have received accreditation from the Leicestershire City Council. This scheme is a route of ensuring our city is a safe and enjoyable place to enjoy a night out!!

Leicester's scheme has won a national award for being the most innovative in the country. As a direct result of this, the annual Best Bar None conference will be held in Leicester in October 2009.

Best Bar None 2009 aims to reward venues that are well managed and that take customer safety seriously.

What a result!!!!!!!! Bistro L!VE, Nottingham is set to have its most successful summer yet, catering for over one thousand fun loving hen parties in June alone. Not to mention some of our unforgettable hen parties in May such as the pink ladies, the geisha girls, and even the police ladies!

Last Friday saw Take That 2 gracing the stage of Bistro L!VE Leicester and what a night it was! The 270 capacity audience were treated to a superb show by Take That 2, the only Take That Tribute to have shared a stage with the original band!

All decades disco party night raises £800.00 for students of Brooksby Melton College!

On the 14th May Bistro Live opened its fundraising doors to over 125 guests all ready for a great night out! The night comprised a great 3 course meal, fantastic fund raising games and an action packed dance performance from the organisers Identity Dance followed by a groovy All Decades DJ Disco request fest into the early hours....

The newly formed Identity Dance group, made up of 15 young, talented and very keen individuals approached the Bistro Live Fundraising team earlier in March. The team were seeking help to raise funds which would enable them to run an end of year performance showcase for their college. What began as an A-Level project to form a dance group and put on a small show for other students within the college soon spiralled and grew into a much larger project. With only a month of planning the night was a huge success raising just under £800.00 for the students.

So what did the organisers think of the event!:

We have had many brilliant comments about the night, and everyone is saying what a good night they all had! As for us we cannot thank you enough for all you did for us that evening and in the running process, We are really appreciative about it all. It is a shame we cannot run another fundraiser with you all as we had such a good time organising it and also on the night, it's a shame we are leaving college so soon after the event, I am sure we will be back for many parties this summer so no doubt we will see you all again soon."

Burlesque Charity Event at Bistro L!VE raises £1500 for the NSPCC

A charity burlesque event on Thursday 16th April, organised by Berni Mehan and Katie Bond, Restaurant Manager of Bistro L!VE Nottingham, has raised a fantastic £1500 for the children's charity NSPCC.

The night was a complete sell out with 300 guests arriving at Bistro L!VE to watch 23 dancers show off 4 burlesque style routines. Berni Mehan, said 'none of the ladies have ever had any dance training or stepped foot on a stage before and they were all very nervous! They all enjoyed their performances and were on a real high at the end of the night, saying that they couldn't wait for the next show to do it all again!’ The Restaurant Manager of Bistro L!VE Nottingham, Katie Bond, commented 'the burlesque charity event was a great success and Bistro L!VE were more than happy to help organise something that raised so much for charity.'

No it was not Bingo or a Poker Night it was just one of Bistro Live's fun packed evenings

With a "Full House" on Saturday 2nd May and a great band "Here and Now" the whole evening was full of energy from both customers and Staff. I'm sure those of you who came to Bistro Live on the Friday or Saturday would agree that the Band definately got you all joining in and were great entertainers.

I know that all you Hen parties that were at Bistro Live over the weekend left with your "Dare Cards" completed by my male members of staff!!!!! with a little help from some of my customers

Will you marry me?

It was the easiest quiz question Jemma Thompson had ever been asked.

Jemma came to the Bistro Live Fun Pub Quiz in April when boyfriend of three years, Baz, went up on stage to ask her a bonus question for a bottle of champagne.

He called her on stage, but instead of reading from the quiz card, he got down on one knee and asked: “Will you marry me?” Stunned Jemma was overcome with tears, but did not have to think about the answer – or make an educated guess. In a recent interview by the Leicester Mercury, the 23-year-old said: “I was just so shocked. I was thinking I couldn’t believe he’d done that. “Then I cried and I went to kiss him and said, ‘Yes’.”

Baz had contacted the Bistro Live Leicester team earlier in March and expressed his interest in doing a dramatic proposal, he said: “I knew it would be something Jemma would remember.  “After the main quiz had finished, the quiz master picked me and got me on stage to ask one of my team mates a bonus question, so I asked Jemma up. “She came up on stage thinking I was going to ask the question on the card in the envelope I had. “But instead, I told her how much I loved her and everything, then dropped to one knee and said, ‘Will you marry me?’ “The place erupted. Her hands went up to her face and she was really tearful and happy…”

So Jemma may not have won the Bistro Live Fun Pub Quiz prize but she definitely left with a smile from ear to ear! Congratulations to the couple and we will see you Jemma for your Hen Night!!

BISTRO L!VE AIM TO GENERATE £100,000 FOR SCHOOLS

Live music restaurant chain Bistro L!VE have launched an initiative that they hope will raise £100,000 for local schools, over the next 12 months.

The project is designed as a joint venture between the Parent Teacher Association (P.T.A.) of a school, who are the body responsible for fundraising, and Bistro L!VE.

The idea works like this: -
· Bistro L!VE will (in conjunction with the school) put on a night dedicated solely to raising funds for that school.
· With the help and guidance of Bistro L!VE, the P.T.A. will sell tickets for this night to all of the ‘stakeholders’ in the school, (Parents/teachers), and also to local companies.
· A proportion of the ticket income will go directly to the P.T.A./School – the more people that attend, the more income raised for the school.
· THE AIM IS TO RAISE A MINIMUM OF £1000.00 FOR EACH SCHOOL THAT TAKES PART.
· The individual P.T.A.’/schools will determine how the funds raised are spent.

The idea was the brainchild of Bistro L!VE directors Mark Henderson and Fred Harlow, following a fundraising event where Bistro L!VE raised over £5,000 for a former employee, whose daughter had been suddenly diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Fred Harlow said “The night was a tremendous success. It demonstrated to us that we had an excellent ‘vehicle’ in Bistro L!VE, to enable us to help other people to raise funds.”

Mark Henderson said. “We are looking to work with between 50 and 100 schools over the next 12 months, so that we can achieve our aim of raising £100,000 to help schools to fund special projects. As a governor at my son’s school, I understand just how difficult it is fund new ideas - we hope this new initiative will help many schools generate much needed cash.

And, the best part of it is that everyone gets to have a great night out, whilst at the same time raising money. “
Any school that is interested in taking part will receive a full information pack to help them to sell the night including template letters for parents and companies, and posters to promote the night.
